Any attempts to explain the ASME Y14.5 and ISO 1101 standards inevitably leads to a search for appropriate parts with which to demonstrate specific concepts. Although real problem parts abound, they are often too large, too small, too complex, or too perfect for effective demonstrations. So, during early efforts to teach GD&T, Multi Metrics developed, little by little, a collection of multi-purpose wood objects. Three years of field use and modification of these prototypes led to a unique collection of professional grade Smart GD&T Models made exclusively of anodized aluminum, stainless steel, Delrin, and PVC. Detailed User Manuals make Smart GD&T Models excellent classroom and self-training tools.

Much imagination is required to grasp the concepts of GD&T. One must be able to visualize tolerance zones, imagine features expanding and contracting, "see" the components of a Cartesian coordinate system, and grasp how Datum Feature Simulators and Datum Features work together to eliminate degrees of freedom during Datum Reference Frame (DRF) construction. Words are fine tools, but physical models make the job infinitely easier.
The Training Models detailed below are those used in Multi Metrics' seminars. Highly durable and beautifully finished, they are universal from the standpoint of GD&T and essential in any learning process.
